The boys next door
Hailed as the finest cabaret show group of their kind in this country by their showbiz peers, Ian, Rob and Darren keep their feet firmly on the ground, as the groups popularity just grows and grows! Hailing from the Derbyshire village of Melbourne in the East Midlands, the band actually got their name from actually living next door to each other!
The group first came to public prominence at the end of the eighties, when at the tender ages of 18, they appeared on the last ever series of TV’s ‘New Faces’ talent show, finishing second in the grand final!
Several tours followed for the group, supporting such major attractions as Cannon & Ball, Des O’Connor, The Drifters to name but a few, but its in the corporate and holiday season market where the boys have really made their mark, and are sought after country wide for their unique blend of music, light hearted comedy, and direct approach that audiences just warm to. Whether it be private parties, weddings, corporate events, theatre, or private clubs, the boys have the class and versatility to cater for all!
Not only do they present their wide range of music in a unique manner, they also feature no less than TWELVE different instruments in their stage show, including use of the flute, penny whistle, bag pipes,
Saxophone, banjo, bodhran, and several other string instruments, which they include when performing some of their Latin American numbers, or when presenting their irish music from such bands as The Pogues and The Fureys, who play an integral part in the groups stage show. The group defies anyone listening not to get swept along by the tide of musical excitement. They always include current chart hits of the day in the show, which gives the listening audience a truly well balanced night of entertainment to suit all age groups.
