Guy Young - brilliant guitar vocalist
2016 was the year that he celebrated a quarter of a century in this business. That's 25 years of entertaining people with music. You can't do it for that long without learning a bit about what makes people tick; what people like to hear at certain times.
Over time, you get a canny knack of working out what music people like - often just by looking at your audience! He did it to good effect over 15 years as a disc jockey during the 1990s and 2000s.
He is proud to have won awards that were voted for by the people that matter - the general public. Over the last 6 years, he has taken the daunting leap of faith from playing records (then cds and finally mp3s) onto performing the songs himself. Transferring those skills from one form of music performance to another was actually quite naturally achieved.
At the very end of 2016, he was proud to receive the coveted Guitar/Vocalist of the Year Award from the Birmingham Entertainment Secretaries Council. Into 2017, and he still enjoys playing a song for the first time, just like he did in the pubs and clubs 20 + years ago. Whether he is playing a general covers show, or his new tribute to Jeff Lynne show - called ELOquence - the fun he has is obvious and infectious.
